Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes to climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out his hand.

But the waves are calling out my name and they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says "Do not be afraid!"
And the voice of truth says, "This is for my glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will chose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand.

But the giant's calling out my name and he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again, "Boy you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I will chose to listen to the voice of truth

   더는 절대로 할 수 없다고 느껴지는 순간이 있다. 세상의 모든 목소리가 나의 실패를 비웃는 것 같은 그 시기에, 사람들은 자살을 하거나, 잠수를 타거나, 세상과 단절된 그 어떤 것을 꿈꾼다.  우리가 듣는 세상의 목소리는 언제나  "Boy, You never win!" 이라고 말하지만, 하나님의 목소리는 "Do Not be afraid, this is My glory" 라고 말씀하신다.

 

   두려움 많은 존재인 것을, 홀로 설 수 없는 존재라는 것을 하나님은 미리 알고 계시기에, 나 혼자서는 실패할 것 조차 알고 계신다. 그런 하나님이 나를 홀로 보내신다는 것은 기실 혼자라고 느끼는 느낌 만 있을 뿐 혼자보내시는 것은 아니라는 것이다.

 

   내가 결정한 선택의 일부분이 전혀 의미 없고, 말도 안돼고, 피해만 준 것인 것 처럼 보여도. 이제는 더는 그렇게 할 수 없고 나의 모든 길이 부정되어질 것처럼 보이는 그 시점에서도, 내 속의 목소리마저 나를 비난하는 그런 때에, 좀더 하나님의 목소리에 귀를기울여 보면 그는 어떤 말을 하실까?

 

 "Do Not be afraid, this is My glory"

 

이렇게 대답하시지 않을까?

 

어느 순간 알게 될 것이다. 파도는 그리 높지 않았고, 하나님이 내게 주신 돌멩이는 거인을 쓰러트리기에 충분한 크기였다는 사실을...
